Fleas

Tiny Pest, Big Problem

Fleas cause itching for both pets and humans and are difficult to get rid of once they infest a space.

Fleas are a common nuisance in Bakersfield, especially for pet owners. These tiny, jumping insects thrive in warm, humid environments, making homes and yards ideal breeding grounds. Fleas can cause discomfort for pets and humans alike, leading to itching, skin irritation, and even allergic reactions. They can quickly multiply, turning a minor issue into a major infestation. To keep fleas at bay, regularly groom your pets, wash their bedding, and consider using flea treatments recommended by veterinarians. If there’s an infestation, call MSA for help. Maintaining a clean environment and being proactive can help you and your pets enjoy a flea-free life.

What to Expect During Flea Treatment

Treating fleas requires addressing both the inside and outside of your home.

For outdoor treatments, we fog the perimeter of the home as well as bushes, grass, and shaded areas where fleas commonly live and reproduce. This helps stop the problem at the source and prevents fleas from re-entering the home.

If fleas or ticks are present inside the house, we treat all carpeted areas with a targeted spray and fogging treatment. Because of this process, customers will need to remain out of the home for approximately 2½ to 3 hours during service.

Homes with tile or luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring are typically easier to treat than homes with carpeting. Carpet fibers provide more places for fleas and eggs to hide, which can make treatment more involved and sometimes require follow-up service.

We also recommend scheduling your pet’s flea treatment with your veterinarian or preferred pet care provider around the same time as your home treatment. Coordinating both treatments helps prevent reinfestation and speeds up results.
